چکیده
To the Editor: Michowitz et al present an interesting study on the prevalence of familial atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT). They report a prevalence of 127 out of 10 000 of familial AVNRT with a likely autosomal dominant pattern of inheritance (with incomplete penetrance). A potentially important question is whether all the observed cases represent “pure” familial AVNRT or whether a proportion form part of complex phenotypes associated with conditions such as Brugada syndrome. Interestingly, Hasdemir et al previously reported a 27% prevalence of drug-induced Brugada ECG changes in patients presenting with AVNRT. These findings suggest that patients with Brugada syndrome are enriched in populations with AVNRT. Future studies with more detailed phenotyping of patients presenting with familial AVNRT would be of interest to determine the relative contribution of concealed Brugada syndrome. Disclosures

Familial Occurrence of Atrioventricular Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia in a Mother and Her Son
Atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT), caused by a reentry circuit involving fast and slow atrioventricular nodal pathways, is one of the most common types of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardias. While familial Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome has been well recognized, familial AVNRT has been rarely reported. We report a familial occurrence of AVNRT in a mother and her son, wh...
متن کاملIs it truly atrial tachycardia?
We read the article by Okumura et al. [1] with great interest. The authors reported an ablation strategy applying manifest entrainment to treat adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-sensitive atrial tachycardia (AT) originating from the perinodal region. However, we have some concerns regarding the electrophysiological diagnosis of the tachycardia. The exclusion of atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachy...
متن کاملFamilial Occurrence of Atrioventricular Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia.
BACKGROUND Atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) is considered a sporadic disease occurring in ≈22.5 cases per 10 000 in the general population. We define the prevalence and characteristics of familial AVNRT among patients who underwent radiofrequency ablation. METHODS AND RESULTS Ablation reports of all patients with familial AVNRT (at least 2 first-degree family members) who ...
متن کاملSympathetic predominance of cardiac autonomic regulation in patients with left free wall accessory pathway and orthodromic atrioventricular reentrant tachycardia.
AIMS The aim of this study was to compare cardiac autonomic regulation in patients with a history of paroxysmal supraventricular tachyarrhythmias, such as atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia and atrioventricular reentrant tachycardia, and healthy controls. METHODS AND RESULTS Seventeen patients with paroxysmal atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (atrioventricular nodal reent...
متن کاملTwo unusual cases of coincident atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia.
The simultaneous occurrence of narrow and wide QRS complex tachycardias was observed in 2 patients evaluated at our electrophysiological centers. Electrophysiological testing revealed the coexistence of two types of arrhythmia (atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia and verapamil-sensitive left ventricular tachycardia) in one patient and of three types of arrhythmia (atrioventricular noda...
